Summer Spiral Crochet Coasters Pattern

These colors just screamed SUMMER to me, so I thought I would work up a set of crochet coasters to add a refreshing pop of color to my decor. So quick and easy and a fun spiral design!

Summer Spiral Crochet Coasters Pattern

Here’s what you will need:

• 2 colors DK or light worsted-weight cotton or cotton blend yarn (I used Lion Brand Collection’s Cotton Bamboo yarn in Gardenia 170 and Snapdragon 174).
• G / 4.0mm hook
• stitch marker
• yarn needle and scissors

Add this pattern to your Ravelry library.

Finished coaster measures approximately 4¼ in. in diameter.

Coasters are worked in a spiral; do not join at the end of each round. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the beginning of each round, and move it up as you work.

With CA, make a magic ring.

Round 1: Ch 1 (does not count as st here and throughout), work 6 sc in ring — 6 sts.

Round 2: Work 2 sc in each st around — 12 sts.

Round 3: *2 sc in next, 1 sc in next, rep from * around — 18 sts.

Round 4: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, rep from * around — 24 sts.

Round 5: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, rep from * around — 30 sts.

Round 6: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sts, rep from * around — 36 sts.

Round 7: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 5 sts, rep from * around — 42 sts.

Round 8: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 6 sts, rep from * around — 48 sts.

Round 9: *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 7 sts, rep from * around — 54 sts.

Slip st in next 2 sts and fasten off.

Now we will add our spiral design by working surface stitches with CB. To work a surface stitch, keep your working yarn at the back of your work, insert your hook from front to back through the top of the first stitch from Round 1, and pick up a loop of yarn, *insert your hook from front to back through next st, pick up yarn and pull through loop on your hook (1 surface stitch made). Continue from * around until all stitches are worked.

Fasten off, weave in ends.
