This lacy ripple baby blanket crochet pattern uses an easy V-stitch ripple to create a soft, open design that’s perfect for a new baby. Worked in three coordinating colors of bulky-weight yarn, the blanket measures approximately 24 × 25 in. (61 × 63.5 cm), making it a great size for a newborn, stroller, or car seat.
The three-color pattern is easier to work than it may look. Instead of fastening off at every color change, the yarn is carried neatly along the sides of the blanket and covered when the edging is added. The ripple pattern can also be adjusted to make a larger blanket by changing the length of the beginning chain.
This baby blanket is a smaller version of my V-Stitch Ripple Afghan and uses the same lacy V-stitch design. If you prefer a more traditional ripple, you might also like my Watermelon Ripple Baby Blanket Pattern.
And because a handmade baby hat makes the set even sweeter, I used the leftover yarn to crochet a coordinating newborn hat. The matching hat pattern is included below, and you can use my crochet hat size chart if you’d like to adjust it for another size.

Pattern Notes

- Do not fasten off after each color change. Drop the unused color and carry it loosely along the side edge of the blanket. The carried yarn will be covered by the edging.
- The blanket uses three colors, referred to throughout the pattern as CA, CB, and CC.
- Block the finished blanket if desired to help define the ripple shape.

Hi! I love this pattern so much but the bottom (beginning/color a) has curves (sticking out) on each end way more than the other rows – is that normal? Thank you 🙂
Beautiful blanket! I love that you have included charts but the chart listed for the blanket does not appear to be for this blanket.
