Tips for a Custom Fit
One of the great things about making your own crochet bootie slippers is being able to adjust the fit. Feet come in different widths and half sizes, and even small differences in yarn or tension can affect the finished size.
Fit Note: Crochet slippers may fit differently depending on yarn, tension, and individual foot measurements. Try on your first slipper before making the second and adjust as needed.
What If My Crochet Booties Are Too Small?
A slightly snug fit is usually a good thing. Crochet slippers made with yarn often stretch a little with wear and gradually conform to the shape of your feet.
However, if the slippers feel very tight or the stitches are visibly pulling, try making the next size up.
What If the Ankle Opening Is Too Tight?
These crochet booties are designed with a slightly tapered ankle to help keep them securely on your feet. If the opening feels too snug, try using a slightly larger hook when working the ankle and cuff rounds to create a little extra room.
You can also try making the next size up if the slippers feel tight throughout. Keep in mind that changing hook sizes may affect the overall fit, so try on your bootie as you work to make sure the opening is comfortable.
What If My Crochet Booties Are Too Narrow?
If your crochet booties feel too narrow, try making the next size up or using a slightly larger hook to create a roomier fit. Keep in mind that changing hook sizes will also affect the overall length and gauge, so check the fit as you work.
What If My Crochet Booties Are Too Big?
If your finished slippers feel too loose throughout, try making the next size smaller.
