I thought it would be fun to make a set of sports-themed cork boards for my son’s room so he can pin up keepsakes, pictures, sports schedules, and such. I started with this football cork board and just finished the crochet baseball one that I am sharing today. So far he is loving them!
Crochet Baseball Cork Board Pattern
Here’s what you will need:
- white and red worsted weight yarn, such as Knit Picks Brava Worsted
- H / 5.0mm crochet hook
- cork disk, approximately 4 in. round
- glue gun
- yarn needle and scissors

Crochet Baseball PatterN
With white yarn, make a magic ring (as an alternative to the magic ring, you can chain 4 and join with a slip stitch in the furthest chain from the hook to form a large loop or ring).
Round 1: Ch 1 (does not count as st here and throughout), work 6 sc in ring, join in 1st st — 6 sts.
Round 2: Ch 1, work 2 sc in same st as join and in each st around to last st, join — 12 sts.
Round 3: Ch 1, work 2 sc in same st as join, 1 sc in next, *2 sc in next, 1 sc in next, rep from * around, join — 18 sts.
Round 4: Ch 1, work 2 sc in same st as join, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts, rep from * around, join — 24 sts.
Round 5: Ch 1, work 2 sc in same st as join, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 3 sts, rep from * around, join — 30 sts.
Round 6: Ch 1, work 2 sc in same st as join, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sts,*2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 4 sts, rep from * around, join — 36 sts.
Round 7: Ch 1, work 2 sc in same st as join, 1 sc in each of the next 5 sts,*2 sc in next st, 1 sc in each of the next 5 sts, rep from * around, join — 42 sts.
Round 8: Work 1 sc in same st as join and in each st around, join — 42 sts.
Check to make sure your crochet circle fits nicely over your cork disk, slightly wrapping over the edges. If it is too big or too small, you can eliminate or add one of the increasing rounds.
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Using red yarn and a yarn needle, embroider the finger grip detail as shown in the photos above.
Use a glue gun to attach your crochet piece to the cork board by applying a thin line of glue around the edge.
That’s it! Now you’re ready to hang it. I found those Command Hanging Strips (see supplies below) especially useful for hanging this. Have fun!
