I have an idea!! Are you up for another crochet along?! One that is a little different … a little more freeform … a little more personal? If so, join me in a Scrapghan Crochet Along! This will be a great way to use up all those leftover balls of yarn you have laying around while mingling together and sharing our ideas and progress.
So what exactly is a scrapghan?
If you are new to the term scrapghan, it is exactly what you are thinking … an afghan made from scraps.
Why are scrapghans so fun?
Here are a few of my favorite things about making a scrapghan …
- reliving the memories of past projects and perhaps the special occasions or times in your life that go along with them
- the opportunity to try out a new pattern or technique without worrying about ruining your new or expensive yarn
- a chance to get creative and play with color combinations
- and of course, using up all the leftover yarn!
How will it work?
Here’s what I’m thinking … the idea is to create an afghan mainly from your yarn scraps and stash, but of course you may need new yarn for larger parts like borders and such. You can use any pattern you choose or you can make the granny square scrapghan that I will be doing (I will be sharing the pattern next week). Take some time to mingle, share ideas, pattern links, and your progress photos in the Scrapghan Crochet Along Ravelry group here or on my Facebook page here.
What about timing?
Am I crazy to want to make it ongoing?! I figure we always have scraps, right? I thought this would be a fun ongoing crochet along but, hey, if you work better on a deadline, let’s say we are going to check in at the end of May, sound good?
So who’s in?!
