Granny Month Kickoff and Giveaways

Welcome to Granny Month at Petals to Picots! 
I am so excited about everything I have planned for this month!!  It is going to be one big, month-long celebration of grannies in all their glorious colors, shapes, and styles. I have so many fun things lined up … a classic granny pattern, some of the best free patterns from around the web, project ideas, a granny book review, the perfect project tote for all your granny projects, and perhaps even a surprise guest or two!

I even have a few other special surprises … I am going to kick off this celebration with an awesome giveaway from Pick Your Plum!! And I’m sweetening the pot by giving away any 2 of my patterns! And be sure to keep visiting throughout the month because I received special permission from the publishers of Beyond the Square to share an awesome and very unique granny pattern with you! And of course, what event would be complete without a Granny ♥ linky party to show off all your grannies!

So without further ado, let’s kick off this month with the giveaways!



The first prize up for grabs is  a  $25 Plum Box full of swank crafting, fashion, baking, and home decor swag! The images above are some examples of the kinds of items that Pick Your Plum will be giving away.  If you haven’t heard of Pick Your Plum before, they are definitely worth checking out.  Every day they post a new item and at some really great prices.   

And of course, I love giving things away too, so I am giving away
any 2 of my patterns to second lucky winner!

A few things to note …
The Pick Your Plum box is only available for shipping to U.S.  However, the pattern giveaway is available anywhere in world, as long as you have an e-mail to receive the pdfs of the patterns. If a winner from outside the U.S. is drawn for the Pick Your Plum prize, they will automatically be awarded the pattern prize pack and a new name will be drawn. Giveaway ends 12:01 am 8/7/2012 EST.

    Kara,
    Strangest thing. I was about to release a set of granny squares where I take the same beginning (first couple of rows) then make up the rest. I was hoping to help people learn to write their own patterns and stick their toes in the water of free form crochet. I am sure you have the whole month planned out and I don’t want to enter your contest, but was wondering if I could contribute in any way. My patterns will be free of course, maybe we could just link on the subject of granny squares…or whatever. You have great ideas and of course I’m looking forward to your pattern(s) and will crochet along with what you are posting. Thank you in advance for considering “us”.

    I look forward to your blog every day. I haven’t missed a post since I joined a couple weeks ago. I just started crocheting about 3 months ago and found that I love doing granny squares. They are fast and for the most part easy to do. I do have problems attaching them though, mine never look like the patterns that I am trying to do, lol.
